The Salute to ’65 Tour – a tribute to the VCC Haast Tour of 1965 was organized by SCVCC members, and held on the week of 6 to 13 March. 79 Participant vehicles entered, of which 50 took part on the run from start to finish.
The route, which closely followed that of the original 1965 Haast Tour, took participants from Christchurch, through Geraldine to Tekapo. A side trip was made to Mount Cook before travels to Omarama and Wanaka. A further side trip was taken up to Haast before Queenstown, and the final end destination of Invercargill.
